Visibility
| Visibility | Description | Attack roll penalty |
|---|---|---|
| Visible | Target can be clearly seen and observed. | none |
| Obscured | Location of the target is known, but imprecise. | -2d penalty |
| Hidden | Location of the target is unknown. | cannot target |
Environmental Lighting
| Environmental Lighting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Bright Light | All combatants are considered visible |
| Dim Light | Combatants up to the character’s SEN range are visible; obscured beyond that |
| Darkness | Combatants adjacent to the character are obscured; hidden beyond that |
Certain ancestry archetypes may grant special vision abilities to mitigate poor environmental lighting:
- Low-Light Vision - Characters with Low-Light Vision can treat Dim Light as Bright light, and Darkness as Dim Light for vision and targeting purposes.
- Darkvision - Characters with Darkvision can treat both Dim Light and Darkness as Bright Light for vision and targeting purposes.
Invisibility
Certain abilities may grant the Invisibility condition.
[CONDITION] Invisible
Stackable: no
Clear Type: persistent
Effect: You are always hidden to all other combatants. Combatants that are capable of locating invisible creatures will treat you as obscured instead.
Hiding
Combatants may hide in combat by taking the Hide maneuver.
[MANEUVER] Hide (Vigor 1)
Effect: You can attempt to hide from any enemies that you are obscured from or have cover from. Roll an AGI action roll. With 1+ success, you become hidden to the affected enemies. If you fail to be hidden, you can repeat the Hide maneuver again, spending 1 Vigor for every try.
If at any time you voluntarily show yourself, make an attack, or are otherwise no longer obscured or have cover from the enemy that you are hiding from, then you are immediately no longer hidden.
Attacking while Hidden
Attacks made by a hidden attacker gain +2d bonus to the attack roll against the affected target. (Attacks made by an obscured attacker has no bonus.)
After the attack, the character is no longer hidden, although if conditions to hide are still valid (they are still obscured or have cover), they can immediately take the Hide maneuver again to attempt to become Hidden again.
